MAV Youth Mentoring to Present Dancing with the Big Stars Saturday
MAV Youth Mentoring will hold its 13th annual Dancing with the Big Stars fundraiser Saturday, November 7, at Romer’s Catering in St. Henry.
The event pairs local community members with experienced dancers for several months of rehearsals and fundraising. This year’s performances will include several dance styles, including tap dancing for the first time.
Two awards will be presented. The Big Star Award will recognize the participant who raises the most money, while the Judges’ Choice Award will honor the event’s top dance performance.
The matinee begins at 1:30 p.m., with doors opening at 1 p.m. Tickets cost $20 and include a beverage. Doors for the evening dinner performance open at 5 p.m. Tickets cost $40 and include dinner and the show.
MAV Youth Mentoring Director Molly Hay said the organization hopes to raise between $20,000 and $25,000 through the event. Proceeds support mentoring programs in Mercer, Auglaize and Van Wert counties.
The organization currently serves nearly 600 mentor and youth matches through community and school-based programs. MAV offers after-school programs, lunch clubs and other opportunities designed to connect young people with positive role models.
Donations may also be made in support of individual dancers, including online through PayPal and Venmo.
