Cincinnati Voters Approve School Levy Expected to Raise More Than $66 Million Annually
CINCINNATI, Ohio — Cincinnati voters approved a five-year, 7-mill property tax levy for Cincinnati Public Schools with more than 60% support, according to the Ohio News Network.
Collections begin in 2027, and the levy is expected to generate more than $66 million annually. ONN reports that the funding will allow the district to close a projected $58.6 million budget deficit and maintain programming.
The property tax proposal replaced an earned income tax plan that the school board withdrew following opposition from government officials and community members.
It is the district’s first levy approval in a decade, according to ONN.
