ABORTION LAWSUIT

AN ORGANZATION HAS FILED A LAWSUIT TO OVERTURN AN OHIO LAW THAT PROHIBITS THE USE OF TELEMEDICINE FOR MEDICATION ABORTIONS AS UNCONSTITUTIONAL.
PLANNED PARENTHOOD HAS ASKED FOR IMMEDIATE RELIEF IN A LAWSUIT FILED LAST WEEK AGAINST THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH, THE STATE MEDICAL BOARD AND PROSECUTORS IN THE STATE'S THREE LARGEST COUNTIES. THE LAW WHICH IS SET TO TAKE EFFECT APRIL 12TH WOULD BAN THE ADMINISTRATION OF MIFEPRISTONE TO MEDICALLY INDUCE AN ABORTION THROUGH A TELEHEALTH APPOINTMENT. SUPPORTERS ARGUE THAT A PROFESSIONAL SHOULD BE PRESENT TO ENSURE THE SAFETY OF A WOMAN. OPPONENTS CONTEND THAT IT IS AN UNNECESSARY OBSTACLE TO ACCESSING A SAFE AND LEGAL ABORTION.
